Dr. Raya grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, where he obtained his undergraduate and medical degree at Emory University and the Medical College of Georgia, respectively. He then completed his Internal Medicine training at Georgetown University Hospital and finally received his specialty training in cardiology at University of Wisconsin - Aurora Milwaukee Heart Institute where he served as Chief Fellow. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease.
Dr. Raya is a trained specialist in invasive cardiology and cardiovascular imaging including transesophageal echocardiography, cardiac CT, nuclear stress testing, and 3D echocardiography. He has authored numerous articles on both interventional and imaging aspects of cardiology. He also has a strong focus on refractory hypertension and lipidology. Dr. Raya is an avid reader of the medical literature and is committed to compassionate and evidence based cardiovascular care for his patients. He has a passion for prevention and reversal of coronary disease. He enjoys advocating personalized exercise regimens and nutrition counseling as an added focus of achieving optimum health for all his patients. He is an active member of the American College of Cardiology. In his spare time, Dr. Raya enjoys yoga, traveling, and spending time with his wife and baby boy.
